What is Stained Concrete?

You may think that staining a concrete is the same as spilling a cup of coffee in the floor and letting it stay and dry – of course that’s some kind of visualization – but staining a concrete is not as simple as you think it is.

Stained concrete is a process. It is a process by which acid is actually mixed with the cement and it takes a chemical reaction between the acid and the cement to achieve the desired result. It takes an expert to do this because of its complexity. You could buy “stained kits,” as they call it in hardware and similar stores, but it takes a skill in doing the process so you’d perfectly get the results you want.

Charlotte Concrete Resurfacing offers the very best in

Stained concrete is sometimes called acid stain concrete. Because of the chemical that is placed in the concrete (i.e. acid), people call it acid stain. Stained concrete can be applied to driveways, walkways, bathrooms, living rooms, patios, high traffic areas or even walls. However, there are floors that are not eligible for concrete stain. Concrete staining is not applicable if the concrete is damaged or previously treated with acid.

New concretes may be stained after at least three weeks from pouring, however for old concretes, thorough cleaning is necessary to make the stained concrete penetrable.
